Last Day of Work…a Sad but Exciting Day

Last Friday was my last day of my professional career.  It was a bittersweet day…I was sad to say good-bye to my friends that I have spent every work day with for the past 5 years but I’m also so excited about my next full time job as a wife and mother.  I had a really great work experience and had the chance for 4 1/2 out of the 5 years to work with the same group of wonderful women.  We really became great friends and I will  miss seeing them every day.  Here is a picture of my group on my last day:

The whole company surprised me with a baby shower/going away party on Friday afternoon and also gave us a VERY generous gift card that will be SOOOO helpful! It was a really weird feeling walking out on Friday and knowing that I wouldn’t be going back.  I think it will take a while for it to set in.  I’m sure once the baby gets here I won’t even have time to think about it but right now while I’m waiting for him to arrive it just feels like I’m on vacation or something!  I truly will miss seeing everyone on a daily basis but do plan to go back from time to time to visit! 

Now I’m just waiting on my next job to start…I can’t wait to be a full time mommy! :)      

37 Week Check Up

Sorry I’m a little late at posting this…I meant to post it earlier this week but forgot :).  Not much to report anyways.  I had my weekly appointment last Friday and I am still about 50% effaced.  My doctor said I was may be a little dilated but not even 1cm yet :(.  I wasn’t really expecting much but just hoping a little that I would have progressed more.  Oh well…my next appointment is this Friday so we’ll see where I’m at then.

Last Thursday we also met with James’ pediatrician.  We selected Dr. Torn with Blue Fish Pediatrics and after seeing the office and meeting her we feel great about our decision!  We have so many friends who go to the practice (a few specifically go to Dr. Torn) and they have such great things to say about all of the doctors.  One thing we really love about them is that every doctor is a Christian and is really involved with their church.  Also, they all have small children which is great because they can really relate to our stage of life as well.  I had a few questions regarding breastfeeding for Dr. Torn and she was already so helpful!  She was so easy to talk to and I can already tell she will be a great resource to go to with any questions.  I am so thankful that James will be in good hands when it comes to his health!

Lake Conroe Weekend with Friends

Last weekend David’s boss let us stay at their lake house on Lake Conroe for the weekend.  We invited 3 other couples and had a blast!!!  It was a perfect weekend to relax and get a little sun.  The house was AMAZING to say the least.  There were 4 jet skis, a pool and plenty of room for all of us!  Here are some pictures from the weekend:

I also got to use my new flip video camera and got a great video of David on the jet ski…check it out (sorry it’s kind of long – I’m still trying to figure out how to edit, etc.)

We had so much fun and hope to go back again sometime!  It was great to get a little R&R and spend time with friends before James gets here.

36 Weeks…almost there!

I was 36 weeks last Wednesday and I really didn’t think it could happen, but I have grown even more!    

 

I didn’t think I had grown that much in the past 4 weeks, but if you compare pictures, there is quite a difference.  I had my doctor’s appointment last Thursday and they checked me for the first time.  I am not dilated at all but I am about 50% effaced (thinned out) which is a start!  I will now see my doctor weekly until I deliver.  Hopefully I continue to progress a little each week!     

Lubbock Weekend

A couple weekends ago we went to Lubbock mainly for David’s 10 year high school reunion but also to see his brother and family who are back for a extended break from living overseas.  David had a great time at his reunion and I really enjoyed meeting some of his friends and teachers from high school.  He was a little disappointed with the turnout of his class (it was an all class reunion) but he still had fun connecting with the people that were there.  The first activity that he participated in was the reunion basketball game.  He was a great basketball player in high school and his team even won the state championship his Junior year!  He was not too excited about playing at first just because he hasn’t played in a few years, but he ended up having a lot of fun!  I really enjoyed watching him play and got some great pictures of him in action:

We attended an all class dinner on Friday night where they introduced the Lion Legacy Alumni organization and also honored many of the teachers.  Saturday night was left open for the individual classes to plan something.  We met some of David’s friends from his class for dinner and then we went bowling.  Like I said before, not many of the people from his class showed up but it was still a lot of fun hanging out with those that did. 

When we weren’t doing reunion activities, we were spending time with David’s brother, sister-in-law and two nephews.  It was so fun to see them and we are so glad they are back in the states for an extended period of time.  Our two nephews are so cute and fun to play with.  The oldest (Benjamin) is 6 and the youngest (Timothy) is 3.  He won’t be the youngest for long though…they are expecting their 3rd child in November!  Here are a couple pictures of the boys:

We had such a fun weekend seeing old friends and spending time with family.  Our next trip to Lubbock we’ll have James with us…we can’t wait!

34 week ultrasound & check-up

We had our 34 week ultrasound and check-up yesterday and everything looks great!  My fluid levels, umbilical cord and placenta all look perfect and we confirmed that he is in the “head down position”.   They estimated his weight to be 5lbs 9oz, which is on the larger end of the scale.  He is considered to be in the 70th percentile for his weight at this stage.  They say that from here on out he will gain a 1/2 lb per week so with 6 weeks to go that would put him at about 8 1/2 lbs at birth!  WOW!!! 

We LOVED being able to see James again and get a little glimpse of what he might look like.  The technician was SO sweet and took lots of time and great pictures of him.  She even switched over to 4D which normally costs at least $150!  She said he was being “so photogenic” and she just couldn’t resist!  He was SOOO cute and we even saw him yawn which was absolutely adorable.  It was really neat to see David getting so excited too.  He was loving it!  The technician noticed and pointed out on the normal 3D pictures that he has LOTS of hair!  It’s really incredible how much you can see on the ultrasounds.  Here are just a few of the pictures we got of James:

We are headed to Lubbock today for David’s 10 year high school reunion.  His brother and family are also back from overseas so we are looking forward to seeing them this weekend as well!  They are pregnant with their 3rd child and due in mid-November.  We are very excited that James will have a cousin so close in age!  Should be a fun weekend!
