James at 8 Months!

While James is with his new babysitter trying to get to know her a little, I figured I’d take this little extra “me” time to update the blog!  James has had another busy month!  Here are some pics from his 8 month birthday:

Here’s what’s been going on this month:

• One of his front teeth has come in!  Thankfully I don’t think it really bothered him – I didn’t notice any more fussiness.
• He can pull up on things that are lower to the ground.  He is getting close to pulling up on higher things but can’t quite figure it out yet.  I know he’s strong enough so I’m sure he will be able to do it very soon.
• I think I can say that he is FINALLY consistently napping better!  I almost hate to put it in writing b/c that will surely cause him to revert back to his old ways, haha :).  But I really think he is better overall.  I can pretty much count on him giving me two naps that are at least an hour, but never more then 1 hour 15 minutes.  He is usually taking a third nap too that no more then 30 minutes.  He is such a happy baby now that he is getting better sleep throughout the day!  I am so very thankful.
• He has been eating really well this month.  Still having bottles 4-5 times/day (usually 5) and eating solids 3x/day.  His favorites are sweet potatoes, squash and pears although he will eat pretty much anything.  The green veggies are harder to feed him but he will always eat them.  The only thing he wouldn’t eat was spinach, which I don’t blame him…it looked disgusting!
• He loves “wrestling” with daddy!  David will get on the ground and roll around with him and tickle him and he just loves it.
• He gives me (and sometimes David) slobbery kisses!  He is normally not a very cuddly little boy but he sure does like giving his mommy kisses which I LOVE! 
• For Easter, my mom got him a set of soft balls (baseball, soccer ball, football & basketball) and he has so much fun with them!  It’s like he already knows that they are meant to be thrown because he will slam them on the ground and chase them all around the room.  It is so fun to watch!
• He loves playing in his crib.  I think he feels really comfortable in there and knows that he can roll all around and fall over without hurting himself so he goes absolutely crazy!  It is hilarious to watch.  He especially loves it with you play picaboo with him while he’s in there.  It’s almost like he’s showing off or something.  It is so funny!
• He started swimming lessons this month and those have been pretty difficult for him.  The first lesson I could barely get in the pool with him.  We had to leave early because he would just not calm down.  He has definitely gotten better but he still hates it when water gets in his ears.  I think it will just take him a while to get used to it.
• His personality is coming out more and more.  He is so sweet and smiley most of the time but is VERY cautious when he’s outside of his comfort zone.  Trying new things is such a challenge for him.  The church nursery is still very challenging for him.  I think it’s not only because he’s around new people but it’s a whole new environment as well.  It is such a hard thing to go through – for him and me! 

This past month has been so fun!  We are looking forward to what next month will bring!

7 Months!

James turned 7 months old on April 21st (I know this post is REALLY late)!  I just cannot believe how fast he is growing up!  James has been a busy little boy this month.  Here are a few pictures from his 7 month birthday:

Here is what James has been up to this month:

• He is crawling!  He started crawling the week before he turned 7 months.  He is LOVING it!  I think he’s wanted to crawl since he was born so I’m so glad he finally figured out how to do it.  Now the real fun begins…. :)
• He can stand holding onto something by himself.  If I hold him up to the couch or something that will support him he can stand all by himself for a long time.  Such a strong boy!
• Still sleeping at night great.  Usually down between 7:30-8 and up by 7.
• Naps are still better.  He usually gives me two 1hr 15min naps and then a third 30 min nap.  It is still not really consistent but on a good day I would say that’s the usual.  SOOO glad it’s gotten better.
• Solid foods are still going pretty good.  Some days are better then others but he generally does great.  I feed him solids 3 times per day.  It seems like he’s not as hungry for breakfast but as the day goes on he eats more and more. 
• He still has bottles 5 times per day, usually every 3-3.5 hours.  Sometimes it’s a struggle to get him to eat enough so I tried dropping a feeding (going to feeding every 4 hours) but his naps aren’t long enough so I went back to the 3-3.5hr schedule.  Over the course of the day I think he gets enough but at some feedings he doesn’t eat much.  He is VERY easily distracted so sometimes it can be a challenge to feed him just because of that.
• Now that he’s crawling he LOVES playing with toys on the floor and just exploring.  He also really likes his leap frog activity table that he can stand up and play with.  He still likes his jumperoo ok, but generally doesn’t like to be contained anymore…he likes to roam now and be able to move wherever he wants to. 
• Not sure how much he is weighing this month but I definitely think he’s still growing well and filling out.  He’s so active that I think he burns so many calories every day just because of how much he moves!  He is still wearing 3-6 month clothes and some 6-12 month – it just depends on the brand.  He’s kind of in that in between stage with clothes.
• Still no teeth…I’m loving his gummy smile but wondering what he will look like when his teeth finally come in! 

We’re already half way through his 7th month so I’ll be doing another monthly update very soon.  I really hope someday I can be a little better at keeping this blog up to date.  Oh well, that’s life with a 7 month old :).  

James’ Baby Dedication

A few weeks ago (the same weekend David’s parents were in town) David and I dedicated James to the Lord at our church.  It was a very special day!  We were so thankful that James’ Grammy & Poppy were able to be there too.  Here are a couple pictures from that day.

 

 

Bubbles!

While we were in College Station for Easter this year, my mom took some pictures of James playing with bubbles.  He had so much fun!  The pictures turned out great.  My mom is so talented and I’m so thankful she loves taking pictures!  Here are just a few of my favorites…

 

  

 

 

 

 

Grammy & Poppy Visit!

Time for a few catch up posts…I’m so behind on my blogging!  A few weeks ago David’s parents (Grammy & Poppy) came to Houston to visit.  We had such a fun weekend filled with lots of swinging, eating & playing!  James had a great time and we look forward to their next visit soon!

 

 

 

 

 

Bath Time Fun

Last night James was in a great mood (pretty rare in the evenings) so I decided to snap a few pictures of him in the bath.  He really loves bath time and has started playing with a few toys while in the tub (and by playing I mean chewing on them :) ).   I think he is ready for a little more room so he will be graduating to the big tub soon.  I just need to find a tub seat or something he can sit on so he doesn’t slip!  (By the way, I just noticed in these picture how much hair he is getting!  It’s really starting to grow in…I’m afraid my bald baby isn’t going to look like a baby anymore once he has full head of hair!)

 

     

6 Month Stats

James had his 6 month check up yesterday.  Here are his stats:

Height: 26.25 in. (37%)

Weight: 15lb. 12oz. (15%)

Head Circumference: 17.5 in. (65%)

His doctor is really happy with his growth.  He’s obviously just a smaller baby but I guess that’s just the way he is!  His appointment went really well.  He had to get shots again but this was the last time until his 1 year check up.  I am so thankful for a healthy baby boy!
